Re: [Debate] President Pro Tempore
Councilors,
I am honoured to accept the nomination from my friend from Andoria to service in this important role. I would be humbled to be elected as President Pro Tempore of the Federation pending the election of a new President. If elected, I will do my utmost to represent the interests of the entire Federation and also champion issues that are important to smaller and newer member worlds during my time in office. I hope that I can be honoured with the support and confidence of this Council.

Councilor Idris Teldon, Delta IV
Vedek Tabor
Congratulations on your nomination for President pro Tempore.
My immediate concern is that with the election underway, the Tempore position should likely not be used to push a political agenda. There is a need to meet an emergency. I suppose too the bureaucracy has to be kept happy. Good luck with that. However, the people ought to be given a chance to speak, and major agenda items ought to wait on that.
If you make this promise, you are apt to have my vote and support such as it is.

Re: [Debate] President Pro Tempore
Councilors,
In reply to the Honourable Councilor from Delta IV, I agree. The President Pro Tempore does not have a direct mandate of the people of the Federation--and while they do have the support of the Council elected by the people, any person holding this office must be aware that they are a steward of the Presidency and the Federation during a period of transition.
I can assure the Council that I will not embark upon any major policy initiatives that does not have the clear support of the vast majority of this Council from all parties. The people of the Federation will have an opportunity in the upcoming election to decide who to give their support to and which platform to support.
It is not for the President Pro Tempore to make unnecessary policy decisions that do not carry wide cross-party support--and, if elected, I will be mindful of this important fact.
