Re: On the Temporal and Cultural Non Interference Bill

(A conversation in Idris's office.) “There,” said Idris. “What do you think?” Syrta read though the response, and reluctantly nodded. “You could have spoken Truth to Power a bit more loudly.” “It doesn’t seem necessary,” Idris replied. “I think I laid out the issue clearly enough.” “Perhaps you did....

Re: Debate: Temporal, Cultural and Societal Non-Interference Bill

I would disagree with how the charter is interpreted. It requires no wall between church and state, though it does forbid the establishment of an official Federation religion. Also, one of the guarantees is the right to worship as one pleases. In committee. I added an amendment to this bill, which w...

Re: Hearing: Temporal, Cultural and Societal Non-Interference Bill

I am about to offer an amendment. Note, I have waited for the 24 hours to pass without objection, so that am intending to amend the changed bill. In Section IV, the exceptions section, I would add the following exception to improve constitutionality. The intent is to avoid conflict with existing law...

Re: Hearing: Temporal, Cultural and Societal Non-Interference Bill

I shall tell a bit of a story, which eventually touches on this bill. The planet Cyndriel, called by some Betazed, once was the site of a conflict between the gods and the demons. The gods won, and in the process founded the thirteen houses, each embodying a god or group of gods, a virtue, one churc...

Re: Hearing: Temporal, Cultural and Societal Non-Interference Bill

When you claim a privilege for yourself, but deny it a member of the other party, the matter of partisanship become a matter of fact.

Re: Hearing: Temporal, Cultural and Societal Non-Interference Bill

I object. There was no unanimous consent required last time. You cannot be so blatantly partisan in your decisions.

On the Temporal and Cultural Non Interference Bill

Toran I have read a copy of your pending legislation, ’Temporal and Cultural Non Interference Bill’. I am supportive of its existence in principle, but could not vote for the bill as it currently stands. I may offer some amendments if needed if the bill reaches one of my committees or the Council fl...

Re: Questions Thread

I think it was originally a General Order, and it would apply only to Starfleet. I would think by now it would be very traditional at least to apply it to civilian ships. At minimum, I would have an ordinary law make it illegal, but they haven't written it into the charter. I kind of expect someone ...

Re: Questions Thread

As I have seen it played, the prime emphasis is on defense. Too many cultures have had to suffer invasion, and this should be prevented at all costs. They are less concerned with spending Federation money to enhance planetary economies. Bringing new underdeveloped worlds up to standard is fine, but ...
