I just registered for an account, what do I do?
Create a biography for your character in a new thread in this forum (Sign In Here). For info on how to create a character, check out the Character Creation Guide. Writing up a quick bio lets the GM know that you're ready to play and it enables you to vote on matters in the Federation Council (all players automatically start as a Councillor). You may also pick your party/voting bloc. Be sure to indicate your party in your bio.
Currently, we are still forming the starting political parties for the game, so be sure to register your party and its ideals here, if you are creating a new one.
When does this occur?
Palais de la Concorde occurs in the year 2389 post-Nemesis. President Nanietta Bacco from Articles of Federation served as President from 2384-2388 and then President Jarul Bezar, a Trill, was elected to succeed her in 2387. Almost immediately, the Gorn initiated the latest Gorn War which only recently ended at the start of 2389. President Bezar resigned amidst health problems with her symbiont, necessitating a new Federation President.
Be warned, your actions may affect others simming in this universe!
Palais de la Concorde is part of a shared Star Trek universe consisting of the Faltan Station, USS Hawaii, USS Kumari, and Project Delta of RPG Writing. Their actions may affect the IC events and our events may affect their IC events, pursuant to GM discretion.
Why are there so many boards?
Don't feel daunted by the sheer volume of boards. There are many different facets to the game yet they largely revolve around you as the Councillor and the actions you take regarding legislation. As you gain experience, however, you may wish to become a Sub-Council Chairperson or even run for President.
Can I have more than one character?
Everyone is permitted to play one Councillor character; however, if they become President, part of the cabinet, or have some other non-Council player, you may be permitted to play those characters on your same account. There is no need to register as another user on this forum.
How do I run for President?
Fantastic question! The next election for President is under way currently on the Campaign Trail. Players will compete against each other by writing campaign events and ads. The GM will use a mathematical formula and their better judgment to determine which player produced the best political campaign compared to the demographics and award said player the office they covet.
What are press offices?
Press offices are a part of gameplay that allows the individual player to roleplay a bit more and spend more time on their character. Create a press office in the Press Office Forum to use for your announcements. It's your own personal podium, but be careful what you say!
Anything else?
* Feel free to place links to your bio, press office, voting record, etc. in your signature. This is optional but highly recommended.
* Feel free to start proposing legislation in the Council Hopper.
* Be on the look-out for mini-games for non-candidates to partake in during the campaign season!
* Debating and legislation should be your starting concerns, since those are the keys to advancement.
* Never assume a question is too stupid to be asked. We were all new players at one time.
* Don't spend too much time in here. Don't ever give up real life commitments for this game.
* Have fun and keep your cool when someone gets on your nerves. It's a political game so you're going to disagree with other players a lot!
